Consistency

(This has nothing to do with my post, but it made me laugh).

I went to church today. The member-speaker spoke on family scripture study and family prayer. She, as a mom, often feels the frustration and uncertainty if any of her kids heard or understood what she just read and spoke about or if they felt the spirit during the prayer. But she does it anyway. She said they had family unity and closeness and grew together. She credits that to the consistency of their prayers and study, even though she doesn't know if they focused completely on what was said or not. The overall affect was desirable. They all did get something out of it.

I don't know if the 3 sets of 15 reps did anything yesterday, or if it will do anything tomorrow. I look the same before I did the reps as I do afterwards. But if I'm consistent, in time the overall affect will be desirable.

My mom e-mailed this to me tonight:

Dear Gina,
May today be all you need it to be. May the peace of God and the freshness of the Holy Spirit rest in your thoughts, rule in your dreams tonight, and conquer all your fears... May God manifest himself today in ways you have never experienced. May your joys be fulfilled, your dreams be closer, and your prayers be answered... I pray that faith enters a new height for you; I pray that your territory is enlarged. I pray for peace, healing, health, happiness, prosperity, joy, true and undying love for God. (author unknown)

Thanks, Mom.

  1. What a sweet note from your mom.

    (The kermit thing was great.)

Was it you that posted Miz Fit only works out 30 minutes a day-- every day? Potent stuff.

  2. That is such a sweet email for her to send to you. :)

I think consistency is key in this journey. How many times have we given up because we don't see the scale move? If we just stay consistent and hold strong things will happen and new, healthy habits will be formed.

  3. Consistency is truly key, in every area of life, and I'm still working on it also in my weight loss journey.

    Aren't mom's great?!

    Love the Kermit cartoon! :)

    Have a great week!

  4. This is so true! And it's so helpful to remember when we're not getting instant results with something. So tempting to throw up our hands and give up, but much better to stick with it, day in and day out.

  5. YUP, consistency. Not sure if you saw my post on this but I credit, along with good eating of course, consistency & patience for getting & maintaining the results. And of course, the big NO I wrote about in my post today! :-)
